A と B を同じ目線で比べています。Ａ，Ｂが何かを読み取りましょう。
＊Lucy is as pretty as Mary. ルーシーとメアリーを比べて、どちらも同じ位かわいい状態を表す。

解説
as + 形容詞 + a 名詞 の語順に惑わされることなく＜as　~　as＞構文を見ましょう。

１) 慶応大の英訳問題です。

解説
目に見える境界と同様、現実に存在する目に見えない境界を比べています。

２) 慶応大の英作問題です。
電子メールのやりとりにおいて肝心なことは、丁寧で体裁が整っていることよりも、迅速かつ簡潔に返信する事である。

解答
The important thing in email exchanges is not so much writing politely and formally as answering quickly and briefly.

解説
「丁寧で体裁が整う」＝Ａ、「迅速かつ簡潔に返信」＝Ｂ　ですから、構文の中に入れ込むだけでＯＫ。

３) 早稲田大の長文問題から。

訳

＊Lucy is more pretty than Mary. ルーシーはメアリーよりかわいい、という、ルーシーとメアリーの比較です。

more があるのに、than　が見当たりません。文意から、何と何を比べているのかを読み取らせる問題です。凍った魚でなければ寿司として出せないと聞く驚きは、２年も凍っていた魚を食べると聞いて驚いた以上の驚き、ということですね。

４） 中央大の英訳問題です。
Quality and depth of experience matter far more than visiting one popular place after the next.

人気のある場所を次から次へ訪れるより、体験の質と深さの方が、ずっと重要である。

A matters more than B. A=体験と質の深さ　B= 人気のある場所を訪問 が見えれば簡単ですね。

５） 慶応大の英文訳の問題です。

few は「ほとんどない」という否定文。There are few ＝ほとんどない。あとは、better~の比較構文。

８） 中央大の整序問題です。並び替えて意味の通る文章にしましょう。
